What Sets You Free?

Day of celebrating our nations’s freedom tomorrow. Hot dogs, hamburgers, fireworks, friends and family together.fw3

Makes me think of another kind of freedom.

Your freedom. Mine.

What Sets You Free?

What makes your heart come alive? What inspires you? Encourages you? Brings you life and hope?

It’s a question I don’t ask enough, that I don’t act on enough. Do you have an answer to the question? Here’s how I’m answering it these days:

  • Go dirt bike riding with my sons

  • Take time to lay in the hammock and read

  • Sit and gaze at the beauty around me and not think about anything but that
  • Write in my journal
  • Immerse myself in music
  • Connect with a friend
  • Play my guitar
  • Have deep conversation with Darci

  • Step way outside my comfort zone
  • Take a hike to the top of a mountainEnchantments Aug '11 for Nora
  • Take risks
  • Pray only expressing thanks for what Jesus has done
  • Take photos

The list could go on, but you get the idea. Making the list takes time, doing a few things on the list is harder, and takes more time.

But on this day when our nation celebrates freedom, it might be worthwhile to explore what sets you free. (And if you really want to go crazy, ask your spouse or a friend what sets them free.)
